My bubbles!

Hooray! I've bit the bullet and splurged on a full 20 gallon aquarium! There are starter fish in it now, as well as my newts. As soon as the water stabilizes some more, I'll put more fish in it and it will be an official community! Yay!

Plants man, wtf

Is it too cold in the house or something? I'm gonna hope I have better luck in the spring and summer with growing things. I mean most my plants are fine and green but I can never get flowers to stay put. Ah well.

Dan did take me to the NJ flower show on Valentine's day and I picked up an orchid and a bunch of other really cute plants! I hope they all stay healthy, I've been good about trying to understand how much water and sun specific plants need.

The movies!

A few days ago, Dan and I went out and got to see Coraline. We were hearing some pretty good things about it, and we intended to see it anyway considering how many people were saying it was very 'Changeling'. How can we pass that up?

Well we went and saw it and just daymn. It was amazing! I was thoroughly entertained the entire time. Also, pretty creeped out for a lot of it, which I believe was the point. Also at multiple points in the movie Dan and I couldn't help say to each other, is this really a kids' movie? How do they get away with this? And not just on the basis of it being totally frightening for kids, but some other kind of riske parts in it. All in good humor of course, but you have to wonder. Its another one of those films that isn't REALLY for the kids.

Also I'm thinking that yes, Geiman HAD to have drawn inspiration from the Changeling somehow. It epitomizes changeling like crazy. And its excellent.

Bling Bling

Y'know this whole bit about me knowing how to tell the difference between a diamond and not a diamond is actually quite and expensive. It means I need to be able to access loose diamonds. I've managed to pry some tiny ones out of rings and necklaces given to me by ex boyfriends that were just sitting in a drawer.

They're so small though, its difficult to run some of the layman's tests I've looked up. I do know now that if you put a diamond over writing, you can't see anything at all through the table because of how high the light dispersion is, but other than that, I'm a bit lost. I have been practicing with my loupe though, and getting better. Plus I'm meeting some people who were/are jewelers so I'll ask for their help!

$101

I'm glad to report that I've been successfully putting away the $101 each couple weeks into my savings. Also I've been pretty serious about knocking down my debt as well. It feels productive, but man what a pinch!

PMC Update

Not only have I learned to use Precious Metal Clay, but enough so that I was able to sell a piece on Etsy! This pendant sold for $80! I know it may have been worth more considering the hours of detail and all the faceted green garnets but as my first piece I wanted to make it a trial sort of thing. Anyway the customer reports that she loves it! I'm so happy!
